I.T.Jones Collection, Communicated 5th Feb.1981, Ref.K11-2
Letter from Mrs Durrage, West Leake, enclosed with questionnaire from Mrs Judson (TD00678). She remembers celebrating Plough Monday with other children around 1922. They blackened their faces, dressed in old clothes and tied binder twine round their waists. They walked from West Leake to East Leake, where they knocked on people's doors saying 'please remember the plough'. They chanted a verse which began "In comes I old Bel-ze-bug. In my hand I carry a club."
