Memories of a Villager [Plough Monday at Bunny, Notts.]
Nottinghamshire Archives Collection, Written 29th Mar.1960, Ref.DD121/1/15, 10pp.
Entry to an essay competition on old village life at Bunny, Notts. Page 6 includes the following;
"A few men and boys used to come to the door on Plough Monday in the evening dressed up in smocks, and old hats stuffed with straw. They sung a song or two and were given a little money, a glass of home made wine, and a pasty or two. A pasty is a turn over pastry, not one of the little dainty tarts and pastries of today."
