The archive include a number of individual donations relating to folk plays and other folklore. In addition there are two collections containing substantial numbers of references to folk plays and Plough Monday. These are; the papers of E.L.Guilford, and the entries for a number of essay competitions run by the Notts. Local History Council in the early 1960s. Detailed typed lists are available for most of the archives, and there are substantial card catalogues relating to places, subjects and personal names. The subject index is rather idiosyncratic and needs to be used with care.
