Folk Plays - Christmas 2003 - St.Alban's MummersPam GloverSt.Alban's Mummers performing in St.Albans, Hertfordshire, England on the 26th December 2003The bucket appeared one year when we forgot to bring a hat for the collection. Sandy Glover (as Father Christmas) changed the line from "This hat it would speak, If it had but a tongue...", then broke out of the text, telling the audience he couldn't think of a rhyme for "bucket". The audience rapidly got ahead of him... This has become an important bit of business at the end of the play, and they wouldn't get away with bringing back the hat now.
