Dent Pace-Eggers, CumbriaUndated photographs, courtesy of Stuart Manger, that may have been taken in the 1920s
In both photographs, two participants are dressed as an old man and an old woman, with blackened faces, one of whom, holds a basket for Pace Eggs - visible in the basket of the top photo. The other participants wear streamer-style costumes, with cloths on their hats that may have been veils - possibly lifted up for the photographers. It is not known if these Pace Eggers were performing a play or some other house-visiting custom involving the collection of Pace Eggs.
